The Greater Level Hill Sanctuary Choir will have its annual
pre-Thanksgiving festival Wednesday, November 23, 7 p.m.

Mt. Nebo Gospel Chorus and Virtuous Women of Praise will present a program Sunday, December 18, 3 p.m. Groups will set up at 2 p.m. Invited musical guests include House of Prayer, Maple Spring Inspirational Choir, and Maple Spring Male Chorus, Hartwell; Determined from Warrenton; The Young Disciples and the Springfield Community Choir of Washington; and First Baptist Male Chorus and Thankful Youth Choir of Lincolnton.

The Pilot Club Light-A-Light Christmas Tree event is underway with contributions for lights on the annual tree being made to Pilot members. The lighting of the tree sill be held on Friday, December 2, 5:30 p.m., on The Square in Downtown Washington.

The Mary Willis Library and all libraries in the Bartram Trail Regional Library system will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday both Thursday, November 24, and Friday, November 25. The library will reopen Saturday, November 26, at 10 a.m.

Springfield Baptist Church will have its Men’s Day program Sunday, November 27, 11:30 a.m.

Elijah Clark State Park will have its Log Cabin Christmas Saturday, December 10, 5-8 p.m. A re-enactment of a Hannah and Elijah Clark Christmas celebration will be presented. Call the park office at 706-359-3458 for more information.

Booker’s Chapel Baptist Church will honor its pastor, Rev. Dante Smith, beginning Wednesday, November 30, and continuing through Friday, December 2. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. James Butler of Atlanta as the speaker. On Sunday, December 4, 11:30 a.m., the speaker will be Rev. Lance Pitts of Washington. Dinner will be served.

A musical titled “The Heart of Christmas,” will be presented by the Wilkes County Baptist share and a White Elephant gift for the gift exchange. Drinks, plates, and napkins will be furnished.

First Lady Penny Quinn will present her introductory sermon at the First Baptist Church, Lincolnton, on Sunday, November 27, 3 p.m. The public is invited.

The 2005 Legislative Breakfast sponsored by the WashingtonWilkes Chamber of Commerce and the Wilkes County Community Partnership will be held Wednesday, December 7, 8 a.m., at the Third Shiloh Mission Center, 219 McLendon Drive, Washington. Reservations are $9.00 per person and can be paid at the CofC office or at the door. Call 678-2013 by November 30 for reservation.

The W-W Animal Shelter will be closed Thanksgiving Week, November 20-27. It will reopen on Monday, November 28, with new hours – 3-5 p.m.

The Episcopal Church of the Mediator Bazaar and Christmas luncheon will be an event of Saturday, December 3, at the Parish House. The bazaar will open at 10:30 a.m., and lunch service will begin at 11:30.

The Civil War Round Table of Washington will meet Monday, November 28, in Watchmaker’s Restaurant at 6 p.m., beginning with dinner for $10 per person. Stephanie Macchia and Sue Davidson will be speaking on their recent trip to the Confederate Museum, the Jefferson Davis

White House, Monticello, and

other points of interest in Virginia.

Members of Beta Sigma Phi, Xi Delta Tau Chapter will sponsor “Santa and Me” pictures during the Downtown Candlelight Shopping on Tuesday, November 22. The pictures will be made at Dave’s TV and Appliance from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at a cost of $5.00 each.

There will be a benefit program for Annie Young at Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, on Saturday, November 26, 6 p.m.

The W-WHS Class of 1973 meets every Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Lucky Day Café to plan for a class party. All class members are welcome.

Wilkes Telephone & Electric Co. will sponsor a barbecued chicken dinner to benefit Mike Webb, who was severely injured in a recent accident, and his family. The benefit will be held on Saturday, December 10, 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., on the back parking lot of the Dycom building, 11 Court Street. Cost is $6.00 plate and tickets can be obtained from Wilkes Telephone & Electric Co. employees. Plates and tickets will also be available at the Lincolnton office. Mr. Webb is an employee of Wilkes Telephone & Electric.

The Wilkes County Chapter 5320 AARP Christmas social will be on Monday, December 12, at 2 p.m., at the Senior Center on Marshall Street. Members are to bring favorite party foods to

Neal Beard, second pastor of Victory Baptist Church, will be the speaker at Victory Baptist church for services on November 27. Pastor Beard was scheduled to participate in the recent homecoming at Victory but was unable to do so because of the health problem.

The regular Shepeard Community Blood Drive sponsored by Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will be held on November 17, 2-7 p.m., at the Pope Community Center on Lexington Avenue. Other blood drives announced for the area are extra and not a replacement for the regular drive.

The Wilkes County Branch of the NAACP will meet Saturday, November 26, 7 p.m., at the Masonic building on Lexington Avenue.

Transforming Life Ministries will sponsor its annual Advent and Communion Worship Service on December 4, 3 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Center, 219 McLendon Drive. Rev. Grady L. Lawrence of Christian Fellowship Revival Ministry, Lithonia, will be the guest minister. Refreshments will be served.
