Historian visits with second graders


Second grade lab students at W-WPS enjoyed a visit from Skeet Willingham who spoke to them about Georgia history, focusing on the Georgia Performance Standards. He brought pottery, clay, and arrowheads that came from Wilkes County. The students learned about how Georgia became a colony, the founding father of Georgia James Oglethorpe, and Native Americans Tomochichi and Mary Musgrove that were vital to the success of Georgia.
