Joyce Ann Hall Bowen

Funeral services for Joyce Ann Hall Bowen, 55, of Rayle were held Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Sardis Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. Jim Newsome and Rev. John Mark Carpenter officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Bowen died Saturday, October 4, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Mrs. Bowen was a native and lifelong resident of Wilkes County. She was the daughter of Martha Kennedy Hall and the late Grover Allen Hall of Rayle. She graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School in 1970 and attended Truett- McConnell College. She had served as a Certified Nursing Assistant at North Georgia College, Dahlonega; was a clerk at the Rayle Post Office; and worked at the Salvation Army and Essex Crossroads in Washington. She was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church where her husband has served as pastor for a number of years.

Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband of 37 years, Rev. James Bowen of Rayle; a daughter, Stephanie Helen Bowen, and a son, Brandon Kyle Bowen, both of Rayle; a brother, Boyce Allen Hall of Rayle; and a grandson, Scott Cameron Bowen.

Pallbearers included Terry Watkins, Dr. David Kirk, Mark Justice, Bobby West, Jack Davis, Paul Bowen, John Bowen, and Chris Lunsford.

Honorary pallbearers included Dr. David Kirk's staff and the staff of the Therapy Department at Wills Memorial Hospital.
