Larry Jasper Chapman

Graveside services for Larry Jasper Chapman, 52, of Washington were held Sunday, October 5, 2008, in Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Wayne Ghann and Rev. Chris Townsend officiating. He died Friday, October 3.

Mr. Chapman was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Hurschel T. Chapman and the late Mattie Sturdivant Chapman. He was a lead lineman for Rayle Electric Membership Corporation. He was a volunteer fireman with the Washington Fire Department; a volunteer sheriff's deputy with the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department; a volunteer with the Wilkes County 4-H and FFA; and was a Little League softball coach. He was a member of Washington Chapel.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Goldman Chapman; a daughter, Audra Chapman; a son, Jason Chapman, all of Washington; and a brother, Ron Chapman of Lewiston, Texas.

Pallbearers included John Echols, Darrell Rogers, Jerry Hackney, John Moon, Greg Denard, and Mike Sisson.

Members of the Washington Fire Department, Wilkes County Sheriff's Department, and employees of Rayle EMC served as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington Fire Department, 212 Court Street, Washington 30673; or the Wilkes County Cancer Relief Fund, c/o Elizabeth Gunby, 2090 Thomson Road, Washington 30673.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
