Little League Day set for April 17 will begin '09 season with fun, contests for all leagues

The Washington-Wilkes Little League Inc. will hold "Little League Day" Friday, April 17, from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. at the Ashley Park Complex.

There will be lots of fun for all leagues including "Running the Bases" for Tee Ball and Mighty Mites; a pitching contest, and the popular "Homerun Derby" for baseball and softball. Trophies will be awarded for the first and second place winners in each category.

Music for the event will be provided by B.C. Kennedy and lots of raffle prizes will be given away. The $1.00 raffle tickets are on sale from any Little Leaguer or coach.

Frank Bentley's barbecue and stew will be for sale at the concessions stand along with other food items. There will be booths set up by various organizations.

Any local vendors who would like to set up a booth should call Tommy Saggus for more information.

"We really hope that everyone will come out and support Little League," says Little League President Tommy Saggus.
