Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will have revival services July 27-31, 7:30 p.m. each night. Rev. Michael Curry of Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Sparta, will be the guest minister.

. The Move of God Church at Rayle will have its next "footwashing" service Sunday, August 30.

Bethlehem Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 16, 11:30 a.m. Revival services will be held August 17-19, 7:30 p.m.

Booker's Chapel Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, with Sunday School at 10:30 a.m.; and the sermon at 12:00 noon by Pastor Dante Smith. Dinner will be served.

The Move of God Church of Rayle, temporarily located at 152 Horace Callaway Road, will have a Holy Ghost Revolution July 30-August 2. There will be an outpouring of the Spirit of God; believers receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost; deliverance from addictions and the powers of darkness; and prayer for the sick in each service. Services are at 10 a.m. each morning; 2 p.m. in the afternoon, and 7 p.m. in the evening. The public is invited.

Homecoming will be held at the Flint Hill Baptist Church Sunday, August 2.

The Flint Hill Baptist Church will have annual revival services July 30-31, with Rev. Abraham Moses as guest speaker.

Gibson Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming Family and Friends Day, Sunday, August 2, 11:30 a.m. Please dress casually. Dinner will be served.

Charlotte Ritchie will present a concert of Christian music at the Tignall Baptist Church Sunday, August 9, at 6 p.m.

Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have homecoming Sunday, August 9, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held August 12-14, 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Calvin Daniels of St. Paul Baptist Church of Society Hill.

Wills Memorial Hospital is sponsoring a Bereavement Support Group the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. This group is facilitated by Rev. Glen Kohlhagen, who serves as a hospice chaplain and as pastor of the Washington Presbyterian Church. The next meeting will be held on August 12. If you have any questions, call 706-678-7511.

Cherry Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. Dinner will be served following the service. Revival services will be held August 3-5 at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Roscoe Perry.

The Norman Family Association will be holding its biannual reunion Friday, July 31, and Saturday, August 1. Registration will be at the Lincoln Center in Lincolnton Friday, 6-7 p.m. A guided cemetery tour will depart from the Lincoln Center at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at Midway United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. followed by a short business meeting. The family will gather for dinner in the Lincoln Center at 7 p.m. Early registration is encouraged and may be made with Thornton Norman at 706-436-3025.

The Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Fun in the Sun 2009 on Saturday, August 15, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., at the Liberty Street Park. Admission is free. There will be water games, a dunking booth, volleyball tournament, watermelon eating contest, food, drinks, music, and dance.

Newtown Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, 11 a.m. Revival services will be held August 3, 4, and 5, at 7:30 p.m., with Rev. Jimmy Newsome as guest speaker.

A bike ride and barbecue benefit for Brenda Bunch will be held Saturday, August 8, at the old Tignall gin house, 136 Church Street, Tignall. A horseshoe tournament will begin at 1 p.m and a silent auction will be held with half and half, tickets and door prizes. A benefit chicken barbecue will be held for Calli Nickels, 13-yearold cancer victim, Saturday, August 1. Tickets are $7.00 each and are available by calling Kyle Bearse or Tim Jackson, or 706-678-2912. Plates will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.

Phillips Mill Baptist Church at Tyrone will have homecoming Sunday, August 9, at 11 a.m. Interim Pastor Jamie Callaway of Elberton will be the speaker. Following the Sunday morning service there will be a covered dish lunch. Revival services will be held Sunday through Wednesday evenings. The service on Sunday evening will be at 6 p.m. Services on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. There will be special music every night.

The Washington 7th Day Adventist Church, 1036 Lexing-ton Rd., Washington, will have Vacation Bible School July 27-August 1, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, for ages 3-12. Theme for the week will be "It's All About Jesus, VBS."

Melanie Hart, Canadian Christian singer and songwriter, will give a "Concert on The Square" in downtown Washington, Saturday, August 22, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Michael Moore and Amethyst Winn and the "Purpose of Life Singers" will open for the singer and will sing during intermission. A love offering will be taken. Bring own lawn chairs.

Trinity Baptist Church will have homecoming day on Sunday, August 2, at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served. Revival services will be held August 3-6, 7:30 p.m. each night. Rev. Johnson of the New Hope Baptist Church will be the speaker.

The New Salem Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Reynolds bringing the morning message. Revival services will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Davis bringing the messages.

Victory Baptist Church, Newtown Road, will have homecoming Sunday, August 2. Revival services will be held August 2, 3, and 4, at 7:30 p.m.

Price's Grove Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, August 2,. The speaker will be Rev. Timothy West from the Thankful Baptist Church.

For several weeks The Sandwich Shop on The Square in Washington has had a donation jar on the front counter to collect donations for the Calli Nickels fund. So far, $125 has been collected and the owners, Bruce and Paula Fitzgerald, have matched this amount for a total of $250. They urge everybody to stop by and make a donation to this fund.

The W-W Historical Foundation will meet Sunday, August 2, 2:30 p.m., at the Mary Willis Library. The guest speaker will be Leo Goodsell, Executive Director of the Westville Living History Museum. The program is free and open to the public. For more information call 706-678- 2105.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have homecoming Sunday, August 16, 11:30 a.m. Revival services will begin Sunday night at 7:30 and continue nightly through August 21, at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Tarenzo Gilliam, pastor of Cades Chapter, Elberton, will be the evangelist for the week.

Rev. Paul Revere will conduct the bi-annual Norman family memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, at the Midway United Methodist Church. The service commemorates the lives of Norman descendants and spouses of descendants who have passed away since August 2007.

The next Washington-Wilkes Community Blood Drive sponsored by the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Shepeard Community Blood Center will be held on Thursday, August 27, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 2 to 7 p.m.

The Amana Food Truck will be at the Washington-Wilkes Food Pantry on Jackson Street Saturday, August 1, 10 a.m., for Wilkes County residents.

Clark's Station Baptist Church will have homecoming Sunday, August 9. Rev. Brian George will be the speaker for the 11:15 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. services. Revival services will be held through Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., with a different speaker each evening.

New Springhill Baptist Church, 2491 Crawfor dvill Philomath, will have homecoming and revival services. Homecoming is Sunday, August 2, 11:30 a.m., along with the regular service. Revival services will be held Monday, August 3, through Friday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. Springhill pastor, Rev. Dr. R.A. Hunter, will deliver the homecoming message. Rev. Dr. Alvin Smith, pastor of The Door Fellowship Church, Tucson, Arizona, will be the guest messenger for the revival services.

The Class of 1964 will meet at Club 44 (Booker's Club) at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, August 1.

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church will have revival services August 26- 28, 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Lance Pitts.
