New Salem Baptist Church on the Greensboro Road will have a watchnight service Thursday night, December 31, at 10:30 p.m. Pastor Reynolds and the congregation extend an invitation to everyone to attend these services.

The Bereavement Support Group sponsored by Wills Memorial Hospital will meet Wednesday, January 12, at 1 p.m., in the hospital library. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on the sharing of experiences and changes to everyday living that have come about by the loss of a loved one. The program is facilitated by Rev. Springfield Baptist Church will have a watchnight service at 10 p.m. December 31. Rev. Lance Pitts will be the guest speaker.

Cherry Grove Baptist Church will have a watchnight service December 31, 8:30 p.m. The youth and the Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be conducting the first half of the service along with the keynote speaker, Dr. Ralph Simpson, superintendent of DeKalb County Schools. The second half will be led by Rev. Garnie Shorter.

The annual Doris Booker Black History Program will be held February 21, 3 p.m., at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 306 Baltimore Road, Washington. The speaker will be Mayor Willie Burns of Washington.
