The Lions Club will have barbecued chicken plates for sale on Saturday, June 26, from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Cost is $7.00 per plate. Advance tickets are recommended and may be obtained from any member of the club or by calling Mary Hubbard or Lisa Drake at 706-678-2422. A limited number of plates will be available Saturday morning by calling the clubhouse at 706-678-2951.

There will be a Country Cooking Supper Saturday, June 26, at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, 6-8 p.m. Cost for all you can eat will be $7.00 All proceeds will be used to benefit the many charitable projects sponsored by Fishing Creek's Christian Service Organization. Rev. Roy Cates is pastor.

Victory Baptist Church on the Newtown Road will have homecoming, celebrating 45 years, on August 8. Lawrence Griffeth, former pastor, will be preaching in the morning service. Evangelist Billy Ingram will be preaching in the evening services through Wednesday night. Calvary Quartet will be singing beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will have its annual revival services July 26-30, 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Michael Curry of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Hancock County. ƒ

Beulah Baptist Church will have a benefit barbecue for James Edmond Saturday, June 19, 6-8 p.m.

The W-WCHS Class of 1990 will have a reunion June 18-20. A "meet and greet" will be held at Retro Cinema in Downtown Washington Friday night. A dance will be held at the State Farm Building Saturday night, and a picnic on Sunday at Fort Washington Park. Cost is $125.00 for the entire weekend or $65 for Saturday only. Newtown Baptist Church will have homecoming on Sunday, July 11, with Rev. John Lance as the speaker. Revival services will be held July 12- 14, 7 p.m., with Rev. Wade Palmer as the speaker.

Young's Chapel Baptist Church will have annual revival services June 28-July 1. The guest minister will be Rev. Howard Hormon, pastor of Zoar Church.

Twin Oak Baptist Church will celebrate its 124th anniversary June 25 and 26. A fish fry will be held Friday at 5 p.m.; and a barbecue on Saturday, June 26, at noon. The Sunday service will begin at 11:45 a.m. with dinner to follow.

The Annual Independence Day Parade will be held Sunday, July 4, beginning at 8 a.m. in Fort Washington Park. Walkers, runner, bicycles, tricycles, scooters, people, and dogs on leashes are encouraged to participate. NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED. The parade route is short and the program in Fort Washington Park is short, allowing everyone to get to church services on time.

Derrick Tutt and Marullus Williams will sponsor a 2010 Success Seminar for students in the 9th through 12 grades and recent graduates Saturday, June 19, 1-3:30 p.m., at the Pope Center on Lexington Avenue. Students will be given information on planning and choosing a career path; applying for and succeeding in college; and starting their own business. Transforming Life Ministries will sponsor a "Master's Monday" worship service July 5, 7 p.m., at the Church of the Mediator, 214 East Robert Toombs Avenue. The guest minister will be Pastor Tonita Cody of the Parks Grove FBH Church in Lincolnton. Refreshments will be served in the Parish House after the service.

Wills Memorial Hospital is offering two diabetic support group sessions on Thursday, June 17, 2:30-3:30 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. in the hospital library. Anne Myers, RN, MSN, will facilitate the sessions. The focus of the discussion will be carbohydrates. Reservations are necessary and may be made by calling 706-678-9296.
