Thankful Baptist Church will celebrate the 11th anniversary of Pastor George Edwards on October 10, 11:30 a.m. Guest pastor will be Richard A. Smith and the choir from the Growing Faith Ministries Church of Augusta. Dinner will be served.

The Women of Excellence of Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have its annual program on October 16, 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Kimberly Leverett, pastor of Pauline FBH Church, Washington.

Single copies of The News- Reporter are now each. The 75- cent price includes sales tax, making the newspaper easy to pay for and easy for convenience stores to make change. Subscription rates will remain the same: in-county, $26.00; trade area, $33.00; outside, $41.00; and online, $33.00.

The bereavement seminar led by Rev. Glen Kohlhagen will meet Wednesday, November 10, 1 p.m., at the Wills Memorial Hospital. ƒ

The Woman's Club will have a spaghetti supper on Friday, October 15, at the clubhouse from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 and can be obtained from club members or at the Chamber of Commerce office. For more information call 706-285-2818.

Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a variety show at the Bolton Lunceford Playhouse October 16 at 7 p.m. and October 17 at 3 p.m.

The W-WCHS Class of 1981 will meet at Mike’s Place, downtown, at 6 p.m. on October 16.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will host an open house at the Robert Toombs House on October 23, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. The house has been operated by Wilkes County since October 2009. Over the past year many improvements have been made to the house and grounds.

The Rotary Club will have its annual Pancake Supper Friday, November 5, 5-7:30 p.m., at the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School cafeteria. Cost is $6.00. Tickets are available from any member of the Rotary Club and will be available at the door.

The Washington Little Theater Co. will have a Christmas musical variety show on December 10, 11, and 12.

The Wilkes County Sunday School Union is preparing to conduct its first Junior Bible Bowl at the October 30 session for students ages five through 10. Sunday School superintendents of Union affiliated churches will receive the appropriate study guides in the next few days and are asked to get them to the team coaches so they can begin preparing the students immediately.

The "I'd Rather Be in Tignall" Fall Festival will be held Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the old school grounds in Tignall.

There will be a meeting for all school council members of the Washington-Wilkes Primary, Elementary, and Middle schools on Wednesday, October 13, at 3:30 p.m., at the Wilkes County Board of Education office on North Alexander Avenue.

The White Rock Baptist Church, Rayle, will have an appreciation program October 10, 11:30 a.m., to honor Pastor and Mrs. G.L. Avery's 36 years as pastor. Pastor Tommy Johnson and the New Hope Baptist Church, Carlton, will direct the services.

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 14, at the new Lincoln County High School, 200 Charles Ward, Elam Street, Metasville Road, Lincolnton.

Pauline Chapel FBH Church, 340 Alabama St., Washington, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the pastor, Kimberly Leverett, on November 13, 3 p.m. Parks Grove FBH Church will be the host church. Pastor Tonita Cody of the Parks Grove FBH Church will speak.

Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have a scholarship program for Willie M. Jenkins on Sunday, October 17, 2 p.m. Robert King Jr. will bring the inspirational message.

The Washington Central High School Class of 1969 will meet Saturday, October 9, 6 p.m., at the Believers Fish and Chips, 154=B Whitehall St., Washington. "The Sanctuary," formerly the Washington Church of God, will have two nights of "Fall Refreshing Services" on October 17 and 18, at 7 p.m. Rev. Lanis Lewis and Rev. Terry Bonds, along with special singers, all of the First Assembly of God Church of Lincolnton, will be conducting the services. The church is located at 1365 Tignall Road, just past the Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.

Springfield Baptist Church will have a men's day program Sunday, October 24, 11:30 a.m. Rev. Jimmie Gibson will be the guest speaker.

The Wilkes County Board of Registrars will meet Thursday, October 21, in Room 323 of the Wilkes County Courthouse at 5:30 p.m.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Rayle will celebrate the pastor's anniversary Sunday, October 17, 2:30 p.m. Rev. Michael Gresham will be the speaker. Dinner will be served following the program.

Transforming Life Ministries will sponsor its annual "Hallowed Be Thy Name" youth worship service October 31, 4 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Center. Presentations from youth will include a substance abuse prevention, Red Ribbon Week, finale event. All youth and youth groups are invited to participate. Refreshments will be served.
