Wills Memorial Auxiliary Variety Show to showcase local talents in fund-raiser

The Distant Cousins with musical excerpts from Smoke on the Mountain will be one of the featured acts at the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Variety Show scheduled for Saturday evening, October 16, at 7 p.m. and Sunday afternoon, October 17, at 3 p.m. at the Bolton Lunceford Playhouse on North Alexander Avenue.

Others acts will include musical excerpts from several Washington Little Theater presentations, Fiddler on the Roof with Billy Creel, Rose Weser, Genevieve Coe, Emma Collins and Anne Schiffner; I Do, I Do with Tom and Gail Duggan; My Fair Lady with Jim Newsome, Tom Duggan and Genevieve Coe; and The Sound of Music with Kay Nelms. Also featured in the show will be dancing by The Tapping Tornadoes, Cathy Armour, Kathy Dinneweth, Valerie Jackson, Franny Robinson, Charlotte Simmons, Cathy Stackhouse and Jill Trossen, and a lyrical number by dancers, Becca Hawk, Emily Schiffner and Jeff Wright. Other musical presentations will include performers, Tim, Timothy, Brittany, Bethany and Victoria Kelley, violinists; and Yareli Lopez, Emanuel and Nathaly Aburto and Gloria Perelez, violinists from Suzuki Strings; vocalists, Angie Bailey, Laura Connely, Michael Moore, Jamison “Scooter” Graves with Emma Collins, John Dunfee and Ben Hawk; Skip and Cassie Padgett, Jonathan and Grant Kimbrell with Stan Coe; Kay Nelms; and a Methodist men’s group with George Brooks, Trevin Burriss, Tom Duggan, Bruce Holes, Michael Moore, Darren Pharr, Rich Seibert, Tommy Wells and Skeet Willingham. The show will end with a rousing rendition of I’ll Fly Away by the entire cast and audience.

Dr. Stan Coe is the show director. Assistant director is Sharon McKee, and Paulette George and Sherri Bowers are accompanists.

The event is in honor of the new wing of Wills Memorial Hospital and in memory of Auxiliary member Freddie Brown.

This fund-raising event will also feature a raffle of numerous items donated by friends and merchants and an additional bake sale.

Tickets for the show are $10 each and can be purchased at the box office.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Wills Memorial Hospital through projects of the Hospital Auxiliary.
