‘Hallowed’ youth worship service to be held Oct. 31 at Third Shiloh

Transforming Life Ministries will sponsor its eighth annual “Hallowed Be Thy Name” youth worship service on October 31 at 4 p.m. at the Third Shiloh Center. Presentations from youth will cover substance abuse prevention, red ribbon week, a finale event, and much more.

The service was born in 2002 from the idea that Christians should “promote Jesus through fun things for youth,” said Amethyst Wynn. “We want to uplift or hallow the name of Jesus. We want to seize this time to share goodies with children and youth, but give them the best goodie – the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ.”

Transforming Life Ministries has always promoted positive Christian programming for youth through the Oratorical Competitions including the “Steppin’ for Jesus” worship services. Those services have evolved into the “Hallowed Be Thy Name” youth worship service, which displays youth talent. “It’s like a Christian talent show with motivational speakers, prayer, praise and worship, food, candy, fruit, fun, and games,” said Wynn.

Past speakers included a teen minister, television anchor, teacher, author, and superintendent. The children have been served fried fish, hot wings, hot dogs, hamburgers, and goldfish, along with an assortment of candy, fruit, cakes, and pies.

“We have talked about school readiness, school success, careers, school etiquette, love and respect, excellence, and substance abuse prevention,” said Wynn. “It’s been a smorgasbord of positive reinforcement.”

All youth and youth groups are invited to participate in the service.
