ORBIT students attend breakfast

Five Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School Students who participate in the ORBIT Program attended the Legislative Breakfast on December 2 to hear about the state of affairs in the local, state, and federal governments as they prepare for their futures. Pictured are (l-r) Morris Jackson, Milton James, youth leader Amethyst Wynn, Rep. Mickey Channell, Neko Jones, Keenan Jackson, and Dubois Hines. “These students are seniors who are on track to graduate,” Wynn said. “Milton James, an honor student, delivered an engaging and inspiring welcome to the audience.” These ORBIT students receive supportive services, career coaching, career explorations, and work readiness experience, along with leadership development and opportunities for internships and apprenticeships through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Program.
