St. Joseph Catholic Church will have a yard sale Saturday, October 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Parish House, 1015 N. By- Pass West. The Wilkes County Sunday School Union will convene with the Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church October 28- 33. Rev. LaRay Tillman will serve as host pastor and Albert Shank as host superintendent.

The Eta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will sponsor the Playing Fore the Cure: Nancy C. Long Golf Tournament Saturday, October 15, 10 a.m. There is a $50 golfer’s fee per player and lunch is provided. Sign up at the Washington-Wilkes Country Club or contact Jim Baston. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Tickets for a steak dinner are available for $15 each. The Essene Children of Light Worship Center will begin its fall Bible study program Thursday, October 20, 6 p.m. "Journey through the Bible" is a 52-week intensive study of the entire Bible and is for ages 12 and up.
