Lady Tigers are playing for third championship

LAUREN CHAFIN PITCHED ALL THREE GAMES LAST WEEK She had led the Lady Tigers to an undefeated region record. The Washington-Wilkes Lady Tiger softball team finished its region schedule going undefeated at 6-0. Last Tuesday, the Tigers beat Aqui- nas 14-0 and repeated the next day by beating Lincoln County’s Red Devils 14-1. On Monday, W-W completed its region schedule with another impressive win over Glascock County 14-0. Lauren Chafin was the winning pitcher in all three games and Abby Smith hit her third homerun of the year. On Wednesday, September 28, the ladies played GMC (19-8, 4-0) at home for the region championship beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Tigers have won back-to-back region championships and are hoping to make it three in a row. The winner of Wednesday’s game is the top seed for Region 7A in the state playoffs and the loser will be the No. 2 seed. Results will be reported next week.
