Young hunters enjoy a day in the field

Some 16 young hunters enjoyed hunting quail and shooting skeet at Saturday’s fifth annual John Harvey Edwards/ Frank Beckum Guided Youth Quail Hunt, sponsored by Perry “Rock” Rogers’ Rolling Rock Shooting Preserve and the Fishing Creek Chapter of Wildlife Action. The young hunters bagged 68 quail during the morning hunt.

“The boys all had a great time,” Floyd Higgins said. “Wildlife Action is going to have more hunts in the future, and we hope to get more boys to come. Contact Higgins at 706-401-2012 for more information. With the recent death of Frank Beckum, he said, next year’s youth quail hunt will be called the John Harvey Edwards/Frank Beckum Memorial Guided Youth Quail Hunt in memory of the two men.
