The Washington City Council will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, July 20, at The Pope Center beginning at 6 p.m. A work session will be held starting at 5 p.m.

County Line Baptist Church Vacation Bible School will be held Friday and Saturday, July 17-18, at 6 p.m. for supper and 6:30-8:30 p.m. for children age two through the fifth grade. On Saturday, July 18, VBS will also be held from 9 a.m.-noon. Call Midge Walker at 706-274-3326 for more information.

The W-W Parks and Recreation Department will hold a soccer clinic this Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m.-noon. All soccer players and coaches are invited to attend. Players should wear cleats and shin-guards.

The regular meeting of the Washington Downtown Development Authority will be held Thursday, July 23, (instead of July 16) at Farmers State Bank beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Mount Nebo Baptist Church will celebrate its 144th church anniversary on Sunday, July 26, at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Anthony from Warrenton.

The Heard’s Chapel Baptist Church senior choir will host a musical and songs of praise on the fourth Sunday, July 25, at 5 p.m.

Mount Carmel Baptist Church will have revival services July 27- 29 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Rev. Michael Gresham of Reeves Chapel will be the guest minister. The public is invited.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at the ¬≠Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 5 p.m.

Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold its annual revival July 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The public is invited.

Homecoming services at Black Rock AME Church will be held Sunday, August 9, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Lance Pitts, pastor of Gibson Grove Baptist Church and Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, will be the speaker. Dinner will be served and everyone is invited.

Heard’s Chapel Baptist Church will hold revival services August 3-5 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be pastor Matthew Hardin.

The Hilliard Station Baptist Church will have revival services Monday-Thursday, July 13-16, at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. Michael Gresham of Reeves Chapel Baptist Church from Tignall.

Heard’s Chapel Music and Praise scheduled for July 25 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

New Salem Baptist Church homecoming will be held August 1-2. The Heritage Day picnic will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. in remembrance of deceased members. Sunday morning worship will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor C. M. Hawkins. Revival services will follow August 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. Pastor V. Huntley Worden will be the guest speaker.

The Move of God Church of Rayle, temporarily located at 152 Horace Callaway Road, will have “An Anointed Service of Being Empowered with the Holy Ghost,” Sunday, July 26, at 3 p.m. Pastor Eddie Moore from Roger Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Thomson will be the guest speaker. The public is invited.

Black Rock AME Church has changed its services times. On the second and third Sundays of each month, Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and morning services begin at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited.

Jackson Chapel AME Church will hold its annual back-to-school party “Turn Up” for supplies, refreshments, etc. on Saturday, August 1.

Springfield Baptist Church will celebrate its 147th anniversary the second Sunday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. William Holmes Robinson of the Olivet Church in Fayetteville, Georgia, will be the guest speaker.

Shady Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its pastor’s anniversary (Rev. R.C. Lockhart) on the second Sunday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Donta Smith will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served.

Gibson Grove Baptist Church revival will be July 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Pastor Richard Moss of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Oconee County will be the guest speaker.

Trinity Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming on the first Sunday, August 2, at 11 a.m. Revival will follow August 3-6, at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Larry Norman as guest speaker.

Homecoming at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church will be July 12 at 11 a.m. Revival will be July 13-17, at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Don Walton. The public is invited.
