Tigers win two, prepare for tourney

The W-W Tigers continued in their winning ways on the basketball court during the past week with wins over Taliaferro County and Harlem.

Last Tuesday, December 8, even with all of the Jaguar starters back, W-W beat Taliaferro 86-63 with three Tigers scoring 20 points or more. Tyrique Pender led the charge with 24 points and sophomore Raekwon Binns was right behind with 23. DeAndre Harris scored 20.

On Monday, December 14, W-W traveled to Harlem and beat the Bulldogs 67-56 but had led in the contest by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter. Binns led the scoring at Harlem with 17 and Pender scored 14. Freshman DeAndre Lester had nine points and Jaquavious Blackburn (shown above) scored seven.

Head Coach Don Keiser said he is especially pleased with his team’s coachability, noting that it has already made a difference in this season’s games.

W-W will open in the Lincoln County Christmas Tournament against North Oconee this Friday; will finish the tournament on Saturday; and will return home to host Prince Avenue Christian on December 21 for the last game before Christmas.
