Gaby Esparza will head slate of FBLA officers at W-WCHS


New officers of the FBLA chapter at W-WCHS include Gaby Esparza, Bobbi Welch, Datlyn Lee, Taylor Echols, Ryanna Mercier, Destiny Favors, Laney Thornton, Samantha Wheatley, and Omar Scott. Gaby Esparza was installed as the new president of the W-WCHS chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) during in installation ceremony held October 21 at the school.

“The installation ceremony is a great opportunity to introduce the officers and their duties to the members,” said Lise Kalla, W-WCHS business teacher and FBLA co-adviser. The ceremony also satisfied a Georgia FBLA requirement for organizations attaining chapter of the year recognition.”

As president, Esparza’s duties are to preside at all meetings and see that they are conducted in accordance with the constitution and correct principles of parliamentary practice. “I would like to get a lot of people involved and get more people to compete so that maybe we can go to the national convention,” the new president said.

Omar Scott was installed as Vice President of Meeting Procedures. His duties are to monitor all formal chapter meetings so that they are conducted within the framework of parliamentary procedure.

Destiny Favors was installed as Vice President of Classroom Integration. Her duties are to encourage participation in and completion of FBLA’s Business Achievement Awards.

Ryanna Mercier was installed as Vice President of Competitive Events and Conferences. Her duties are to encourage participation in FBLA competitive events and conferences, especially with the Region Leadership Conference in November and the State Leadership Conference in March.

Laney Thornton and Samantha Wheatley were both installed as Vice Presidents of Membership Recruitment. Their duties are to promote and recruit new members, including both underclassmen and upperclassmen.

Taylor Echols was installed as Vice President of Community and School Relations. Her duties are to develop and promote positive community and school relations through extensive community project and school project involvement.

Datlyn Lee was installed as Vice President of Communication. Her duties are to keep a record of what takes place at every meeting.

Bobbie Welch was installed as Vice President of Finances. Her duties are to assume the responsibilities in the absence of the president.

According its website, Georgia FBLA is an affiliate of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the largest student business organization in the world with more than 250,000 members. Georgia is also the largest FBLA chapter in the nation with over 25,000 members. The W-WCHS chapter has 69 members.
