Living in this world as family of God

(Romans 12:14-21)

Humanity, as believers in Jesus Christ, grows into the Family of God on earth, made up of every race and nationality of human beings from all over the world. This is what God wants us to see and experience. He has paid the price by giving to us His only Begotten Son, Jesus, to die on the Cross for our sins and then resurrect from the dead to give us eternal life through believing in Jesus as our Saviour.

Paul says we are to “Bless them that persecute you; bless and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.” (verses 14-17)

Have you ever seen such good advice given in a litany of short statements? Just think about our world and what it would be like if we all could have this mindset. What makes it so wonderful is that it can be this way if we all accept and believe in Jesus as our Saviour and be together in our faith.

Paul says, “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” (verse 19) And what makes it so wonderful is God’s payment has been made in LOVE: the Books of Psalms of the Old Testament say, “God is Love.” And that brings us to this: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Paul says, “Therefore if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him a drink; for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” (verses 20, 21) This is God’s way through Jesus; let it be our way also through Jesus.
