Six qualify to run for three Washington Council seats

Six candidates have qualified to seek election to three spots on Washington’s City Council. Two of those seats represent District One and one seat represents District Two.

At the close of qualifying last Friday, Nathaniel Cullars, Kimberly J. Rainey (incumbent), Marion Tutt Jr. (incumbent), and Calvin Wiggs III had qualified for the two available seats representing District One. For the available seat in District Two, Robert “PeeWee” Armour (incumbent) and Lance A. Pitts qualified.

The election will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Early voting dates will be announced at a later time.

In the meantime, Wilkes County Voter Registrar Debbie Anderson reminds voters to check their status and be sure everything is up to date for voting in this year’s municipal election.
