Richard Henry McCarty

Funeral services for Richard (Ricky) Henry McCarty, 63, of Bran­ham Road in Washington were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Lou Riker officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Cemetery where Rev. Lou Riker and Rev. Albert Huyck officiated the committal service. He died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at his residence.

Ricky, also known to many friends and family as “Sunshine,” was born in Washington and had lived here most of his life. He was the son of the late Alfred Henry “Bunch” McCarty and Judy M. McCarty, and was the husband of Pam Davis McCarty. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill McCarty, and by his sister, Angie Williamson. He was a retired lumber grader with International Paper, was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was an active deacon, and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Pam D. McCarty, of Washington; three brothers, Randy McCarty of Jackson, Tony Gilbert of Stockbridge, and Mike Strickland (Sherry) of Flovilla; three sisters, Janice Kirkland, of Maryville, Tennessee, Donna Bowles (David), of Covington, and Sandy Long (Marty), of Jackson.

Active pallbearers were Peyton McGill, Dennis Bufford, Marty Echols, Crayton Young, Bobby Mills, and Frank Gay. Honorary pallbearers were Clyde Whittington, Hal Howard, Ricky Howard, Bob Kirkland, Johnny Talbert, and James Williford.
