Susan Abramson (right) outlined four phases of plans for the development of Simpson Park by the Washington Downtown Development Authority (DDA) when she spoke to the Washington Rotary Club at its regular lunch meeting last Thursday. She said benches and a drinking fountain are still needed in the park and may be provided through honorary or memorial donations. Besides working on traffic, signage, and signals on The Square, the DDA is also working on the establishment of public restrooms somewhere in the downtown area. Abramson suggested the old building at Simpson Park, the former bath house when the public swimming pool was located there, as a likely site for that development since the infrastructure is already there. Preston Sanders (left), a Rotary member and also a member of the DDA, was the program host. 11p1.jpg
