Mount Nebo Baptist Church will hold revival services Tuesday Thursday, August 28-30, at 7:30 p.m. nightly with guests Rev. Timothy Bell of Rocky Mount Baptist Church of Washington on Tuesday; Rev. Bethlehem Baptist Church will celebrate its annual homecoming on Sunday, August 19, at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Brenda Nunnally. Revival is scheduled for August 21- 23, at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. Larry Norman, pastor of Flint Hill and Pompey’s Chapel on Tuesday; Rev. Dennis Quinn, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincolnton and Mt. Zion in Martinez on Wednesday; and Rev. Steve Ivey, pastor of Mt. Pleasant in Warrenton and Flat Rock in Matthews on Thursday.

The Washington City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, September 10, at The Pope Center beginning at 3:30 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 3 p.m.

The Washington Downtown Development Authority will meet at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, August 23, in the City Hall Annex.

Transforming Life Ministries will celebrate its 25th anniversary and the birthday and pastoral celebration of Evangelist and Pastor Amethyst Daffodil Wynn at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, at the Third Shiloh Rev. G.L. Avery Center, with guests Rev. Norman Williams of Springfield Baptist Church in Washington and Bishop Jonathan Greer II of Divine Love Fellowship Church in Atlanta. Dinner will be served.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements.
